The Chinese
Choral Society of Rochester (CCSR) presented its 29th Annual Concert
on Saturday, May 5, 2012 at 7:30PM at the Penfield
High School Auditorium. The concert theme was Seasons of Songs,
featuring music of each season containing traditional art songs
and folk songs from mainland China, Taiwan, America, and other
European countries, all performed in English or Mandarin. Most
of the repertoires were performed with a special orchestra which
consisted of both Eastern and Western instruments: string quintet,
timpani, Er-Hu, Chinese flute, Gu-Zhen, and Chinese percussion
instruments. Guest performers included Bass-Baritone Caleb Woo,
Er-hu Soloist Yingjian Zhao, and Jefferson Road Elementary 4th
Grade Chorus singing both Chinese and English songs with Kimberly
Minchella conducting. The CCSR chorus was conducted by Music Director
David Chin with Pianist Cherry Tsang.
