CCSR 25th Annual Concert Announced
CCSR 2007 Concert Anounced

Chinese Choral Society of Rochester (CCSR) will present its 25th anniversary concert on Saturday, May 17, 2008 7:30PM at the MCC Theater, the Monroe Community College. The concert is a celebration of 25-year history in enhancing Chinese heritage and promoting cultural exchange within the Greater Rochester community. In addition to traditional and modern Chinese choral music, the concert features participations of Ying Quartet and Saxophonist Chien-Kwan Lin of the Eastman School of Music for community outreach. Other guest performers include Soprano Ai-Ze Wang, Baritone Mu-Zhen Liao with Soprano Gin-Fe Yao, pianists Teh-Ling Chiang and Chin-An Shen for piano duet. The chorus concert will be conducted by music director Dr. Pi-Lin Ni with pianist Ching-Han Yang. The concert event is funded through an Arts Grant by the Arts & Cultural Council of Greater Rochester and New York State Council on the Arts. Ticket donations are $6 for adult and $4 for student and senior available by calling 377-0063, from Wegmans or at the door.

1/27/2008 What a busy new year. Right after the Gables performance, CCSR was invited to celerbrated the Chinese new year at the Victor HS on Jan. 27th, 2008. As part of the Chinese cultural week, CCSR was one of the groups that gave a special performance during the event orgnized by the Victor school. Other activities include Story telling, china exibit, chinese children's games etc. More photos from the event...

1/26/2008 By popular demand, CCSR celerbrated the Chinese new year at the Gables in Brighton on Jan. 26th, 2008. The hour long performance included a variety of programs like singing, dancing, instruments etc. The program was well received by the senior audience there.Check out the event in this slide show.

1/25/2008 CCSR pianist Nico Young had her Piano Master Degree recital on Jan. 25th, 2008 at 7:00pm at Kilbourn Hall. The program featured Chromatic Fantasie and Fugue by J.S. Bach, Improvisations on Hungarian Peasant Songs op.20 by B. Bartok, Concert Etude, Gnomenreigen by F. Liszt and Sonata in C Minor, D 958 by F . Schubert. Her beautiful music and exquisite touches impressed all of us there at the concert. She was a student of professor Schumacher, at the Eastman School of Music. Like herself,a Immensely gifted musician, Nico's music is elegant, vibrant and yet commanding and powerful. Congratulations Nico! A reception was followed.
